One 60-day voyage around the Land Down Under has been cancelled following the death of an older woman who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned after some time after the crew realised the woman was not present.

A large-scale hunt found her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, together with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company said that passengers and personnel on the ship were informed that the rest of the journey had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Authorities also issued an latest statement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Captain" banning any further travelers from getting on the ship.

The official said that they would visit the liner in the port city upon its arrival.

Sequence of Incidents

The vessel initially left the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the voyage at the moment of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the first stop on the journey.

Company Reaction

Via official communication, the CEO confirmed that the organization was "cooperating fully with authorities to support their investigation".

He said that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had offered its complete assistance to the loved ones.

The liner accommodates up to one hundred twenty travelers with 46 staff, according to corporate data. It was specially constructed to reach distant regions of the nation's shoreline and is equipped with "small boats" - compact vessels used to ferry travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences like this are rare, and passenger vessels have systems to track which passengers are boarding or leaving, according to maritime specialists.

"Leaving covertly or [back] aboard just isn't an option," an authority stated.

Vessel operators consider these methods very seriously and have "clever tech in place to stop such incidents from happening," the authority further stated.
